In a plant, a warehouse or a logistics park, air conditioning often serves very different zones: offices, production areas, storage and canteens. Each one collects a different kind of dirt, such as fine dust, process residue or particles from the movement of goods.
Air conditioning and general ventilation ducts are one service. Process exhausts, industrial kitchen hoods and dust-collection systems are another, and they are assessed separately. This page covers air conditioning and general ventilation ductwork. For kitchen exhaust, the work is referred to Climatiza.
Data point: In newly installed ducts, mechanical brushing and compressed air removed between 75 and 94% of the dust deposited at the building site, but no method cleaned oily surfaces well enough (Holopainen et al., 2003). It is a study of new ducts, which is why in a warehouse what is inside is checked first.
